Washington - Trump

With the recent Presidents’ Day, which also honors the February birthday of George Washington, we are faced with the enormous contrast between the “Father of Our Country” and the current White House occupant.

While Washington led the arduous fight, as general and inspirer, to establish this nation during the Revolutionary War, Trump avoided any military service with multiple deferments of undocumented “bonespurs” so as to enhance his inherited wealth, while running roughshod over others.

As the first president labored to lead and unite this fledgling country, the current one is at his most crude characteristic insulting and attacking good, capable people and sowing damaging division throughout the country.

The story of Washington having said as a boy, “I cannot tell a lie,” while apocryphal, nevertheless speaks of a man held to have been of the highest integrity, which so greatly contrasts with Trump’s thousands of documented, self-serving public lies and misstatements.

Where one man sacrificed and was called to lead, and did so with everlasting honor, the other sought the presidential position to feed his ego and enhance his wealth, besmirching the highest office in the land. And around the entire world, he’s dishonored this best of nations.

Fellow citizens, how can any of you support this horrendous mismatch of character and behavior?
